For my concentration, I decided to do something near and dear to my heart. I would redraw characters from my childhood and redesign their entire style and put them in a dynamic pose. Then I was going to put them in a general place to meet, as if different parts from my childhood were meeting. I choose a restaurant because I work at one and generally enjoy the atmosphere, and also it is a prime place to gather a large group.
This is the first of 12 pieces, which will be 6 redrawn characters and 6 merging them into a group image.
Kida was one of my favourite characters from a completely under appreciated movie called The Lost City of Atlantis. She is the daughter of the chief and native to Atlantis. This is very important to my version of her design because I tried to keep in more regal than the others will be.
For her design I wanted to stick to her style of a more native design like in the movie, but create it more detailed and modern. I gave her lots of accepts of gold and blue, since that was originally her main color scheme. She had bare feet in the movie, so I decided to give her bracelets and accessories as if she was on the beach. Crystals are a very significant part of The Lost City of Atlantis, they run the city and give life to the citizens. I wanted to give her a lot of crystal accents apart from the crystal necklace she wears in the movie. I decided to have a belly button piercing, and accents to her top. Also, since she is the 'princess' of Atlantis, I gave her a crystal crown.
I had lots of fun with picking the colors and doing the shading. Since there was so much blue, I tried to break it up with accents of gold and red.
