At the last part of the week, we started working on values. We first did the 9 squares, starting from lightest to darkest. I quickly built this for my group with the shapes we had in our container. I am indifferent with how it turned out. I think I could have done better but than I also think this wasn't bad. |

My modified hand contours RoomDid you use a fluid line? Explain how this is evident: I do believe I used a fluid line, to the best of my abilities. I naturally do really messy sketches, with thick lines, so this was new for me. You can see in my pictures that most of the lines are only 1-2 lines thick.
Explain how your knowledge and creating practice studies with contour lines contributed to your success of your piece: I often do studies on my own, such as eyes, mouths, gesture drawings, and hands. These studies were nothing new to me, I just didn't like them as much because I'm not into contour art. Describe the difference in your contour line drawing to an outline drawing: An outline drawing I did was very vague and had little details to it. I kept it simple. Whereas my contour pieces I tried my best to add details. Explain how your interpretation of line is essential in capturing the look of the room: In my piece, I tried to use a little bit of perspective instead of looking at the room flat, and I also tried to add dimensions to the things in the room, such as the shelves and cabinets. What did you learn from completing this drawing? If you could recreate your piece what would you do differently to enhance the fine outcome?: I personally learned how tedious contouring is and how much I dislike it. I also learned that there is always more you can do, and if you try to take a shortcut it doesn't really work in this style. If I could redo this... I would definitely start bigger. I was the only person in the classroom who didn't fill up their sheet because I started to small. I added all the details I could.. but if I were to fill up my entire page it would have been overwhelming. |
