Concentration Piece 1:
For my concentration, I decided to do something near and dear to my heart. I would redraw characters from my childhood and redesign their entire style and put them in a dynamic pose. Then I was going to put them in a general place to meet, as if different parts from my childhood were meeting. I choose a restaurant because I work at one and generally enjoy the atmosphere, and also it is a prime place to gather a large group.
This is the first of 12 pieces, which will be 6 redrawn characters and 6 merging them into a group image.
For the process of redesigning Shego, I wanted to keep the integrity of her strict green/black outfit, but add a more unique touch. I went for kind of a badass bounty hunter look, as you can see with boots and leather jacket.
Also, in the show she has powers that generate from her hands. I wanted to incorporate the idea that she was still just as powerful, but from a more physical sense. I designed a weapon for her that I felt was a physical embodiment of her unique powers.
The drawing process for this one was pretty typical. I started with several sketches. It took me a few times to get a concept I was happy with. I wanted to practice with movement, so when drawing Shego I decided to put her character in a moving pose. I feel like this helps her embody the new outfit I gave her. From there, I just lined, colored, and shaded. The process for shading is still iffy. I have a mix of soft shading and cell shading and I am trying to decide which I like better. They go well together but only to a certain extent. We will see.
Overall, I'm still very proud of this piece and can't wait to do more. Having a concentration that I am excited about is all I could ask for.
