For my concentration, I decided to do something near and dear to my heart. I would redraw characters from my childhood and redesign their entire style and put them in a dynamic pose. Then I was going to put them in a general place to meet, as if different parts from my childhood were meeting. I choose a restaurant because I work at one and generally enjoy the atmosphere, and also it is a prime place to gather a large group.
This is the first of 12 pieces, which will be 6 redrawn characters and 6 merging them into a group image.
For this piece it was the first time I had to add a character walking into a scene. At first, I had added her in the other booth to the left (you can see in the sketch below). My idea was that they seemed to recognize each other and start talking, then Kida would join Shego at the table next round. I really wasn't feeling it, and actually didn't like the way it looked at all, but I was going to leave it that way. When I showed it to Mrs. Rossi, she reminded me that because outfits are such a focal point of my concentration I should focus more on Kida and her design than how they meet. Plus having her walk in the frame would add more interaction. Looking back, it didn't make sense for Shego to sit along looking for someone when they were a booth over, so I'm glad that I was told to switch it up. It took a bit more time but was worth it.
I'm thinking about adding drinks that represent the characters as they come in. I'm not sure, but it's an idea.
Also I make minor changes to the background, such as bottles moving or missing to represent they are being used, or chairs moved slightly because people have been there.
