Jeez what a year this has been, wasn't sure I would make it this far. This class was the one that really made my senior year special. I made and rekindled quite a few friendships that I plan on keeping in touch with throughout college and on. It is so wonderful to have a group that is also as invested in art as I want to be. The class was also an incredible support system. There were many times many of us didn't know what to do or honestly wanted to die, but everyone here was so supportive and willing to take time and help you with your projects. I know some of my pieces wouldn't be what they are without the help of some from the class. Also through this class, I was able to converse with people with similar interests, also wanting to go to college for art. I heard and explored schools I never had even heard of. Being in a class where people have similar goals really helps you create an idea for your future. Its a solid support system of people considering the same schools, majors and careers as you, and really made an impact on my decisions for college. I am excited to go into college for Illustration, and hope to do concept art, animation, 3D modeling, and product design. I know there are many things out there I don't even know about, but am excited to find a place for me. As for the art portion of it, I really loved having an all year art class. I was able to do and try new things that never would have been possible with just one semester. I was able to use oil paint for the first time, as well as refine some of my skills in PrismaColor. I found new processes I liked and was able to apply those to my future pieces. I was able to watch my art develop and discover new things I liked to do, such as landscapes. When it came to the concentration, that was rough for me. I had several ideas, none of which really sparked my interest. I didn't feel I could make 12 whole pieces out of it. Even when I thought I had settled on an idea, I just couldn't shake the feeling that it wasn't right. However I talked to Mrs. Rossi, and she was very supportive and even though we were two weeks in, she let me switch it again. That was the best decision I could have made, and I felt an immediate pressure release. I watch my style grow and develop through the pieces. It was also so rewarding at the end, getting dressed up with my favourite gals and having our very own art show! It was a spectacular night, and very fun. I loved watching all of my friends explain their pieces to interested people and even sell some of them! The sense of accomplishment was undeniable.
I really hope future students get as much out of this class that I did, I know I will be dropping by in the coming years to see!
